Very Early Oscar Predictions 2009/ Most Anticipated

Best Picture:
1: Reveloutionary Road
Titanic co-stars (and coincidentally some of my favorite actor/actresses)
Leonardo Dicaprio, Kate Winslet and let's not forget Kathy Bates (she was in Titanic too ya know!) re-unite to tell the story of a couple struggling to well basically live life. It's getting alot of buzz and the fact that Sam Mendes is directing (he won oscar gold for American Beauty) and the star power of some great actors this movie is my most anticipated drama of the year.

2. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Brad Pitt plays a man aging backwards in David Fincher's latest. Oscar winner Tilda Swinton and fellow nominee Cate Blanchett could make Benjamin Button a really enjoyable film.

3. Doubt
A Priest (Phillip Seymour Hoffman) is accused of abusing a black boy. Let's see 2 great accomplished people (Meryl Streep too!) In a controversial story Need I say More?

4. Changeling
Clint Eastwood directing Angelina Jolie. 'Nuff said!

5. Austraila
One of my favorite Actresses (Nicole Kidman) and the very versatile Hugh Jackman star in a period drama directed by due for his time in the oscar spotlight Baz Luhrman (Moulin Rouge) should be good!

Best Actress
1. Kate Winslet-Revolutionary Road
Please,Please, PLEASE let Kate Winslet do a half decent job (which I have no doubt she will) so that the Academy can finally bestow her with that coveted golden statue.

2. Meryl Streep-Doubt
A very meaty role for her. She could have starred in Norbit and they would have nominated her.

3. Laura Linney-The Other Man
Laura Linney is I think the second most overdue actress in Hollywood. Her subtle performances and facial expressions put her above the rest but will Oscar think so too?

4. Angelina Jolie-Changeling
Judging solely by Clint Eastwood's track record of his actresses winning or being nominated and her tabloid prescence will be easy to keep her on oscar voter's minds. But when was the last time a tabloid queen got nominated for an oscar? Her on set hissy-fits could disfavour her to voters.

5. Julia Roberts-Fireflies In The Garden
Based on a Robert Frost poem Julia Roberts is usually a safe bet for at least a filler nomination.

6. Emily Blunt-The Young Victoria,Keira Knightley-The Duchess
Will oscar EVER grow tired of English Women playing queens? I think not!

Also possible
Nicole Kidman-Austrailia

Best Actor
1. Brad Pitt-The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button
Well the cast and crew of the movie seem to be impressed with him and he is proving himself to do diverse and meaty roles lately. Will Oscar like him as much as the public does?

2. Frank Langella-Frost/Nixon
The performance won a tony on broadway and Frank Langella is another over due actor and his snub for Starting Out In The Evening this could be his make-up nomination/win.

3. Benicio DelToro-Guerrilla
A great actor playing the legendary Che Gueverra? sounds AWESOME!

4. Sean Penn-Milk
A controversial role as a gay rights activist might bring some attention.

5. Leonardo DiCaprio-Revoloutionary Road
This year seems like alot of long overdue actor/actress/director/movie employees seem to be competing for their first nomination or win. Leo is poised to at least get a nom.

Also Possible
Hugh Jackman-Australia
Ralph Fiennes-The Reader
Will Smith-Seven Pounds
