Monday, August 25, 2008

ok so no posts for a couple weeks but I was on vacation AND even watching some of the submitted eps of this years nominees! Next up is Dexter which I could have bought today if it weren't sold out UGH! But I did re-watch Mad Men and The Closer season 3 and Weeds!

Every once in a while I will flip flop my emmy predics as I watch more and more episode submissions here is what I've found in the past weeks!

The best drama race is heating up. My fellow emmy predictors are split right down the middle for Damages and Mad Men. I am leaning towards Mad Men myself but REALLY hoping for a Dexter upset!

Kyra Sedgwicks episode submission is pure gold! She just has to beat out Glenn Close which may appear to be difficult....

Glynn Turman and Robin Williams are going head to head for the guest actor in a drama emmy. I'm leaning towards Turman based on quality.

Ellen Burstyn is my latest front runner for guest actress in a drama others seem to pale in comparrison but it's a hard category to guess..

That's all i've found out the last couple of weeks.... Oh and The Dark Knight was awesome!

Next time I will review Dexter season 2 (hopefully!)

Emmy Nominations Revealed

Ok so I did my predictions rather hastily this year but anyways here they are

Drama Series:
Mad Men
House
Dexter
Damages
Boston Legal
Lost

Should Win: Dexter
Will Win: Damages
Thoughts: Lost's triumphant return! YAY! Dexter a nice surprise

Comedy Series:
30 Rock
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Entourage
The Office
Two and A Half Men

Should Win: The Office
Will Win: 30 Rock OR The Office
Thoughts: Not a surprising List although Entourage had a dissapointing season and should be replaced with Pushing Daisies Two and A Half Men has no business being here

Lead Actor: Drama
Bryan Cranston - Breaking Bad
Michael C. Hall - Dexter
James Spader - Boston Legal
Gabriel Byrne - In Treatment
Jon Hamm - Mad Men
Hugh Laurie - House

Should Win - Michael C. Hall - Dexter
Will Win - Jon Hamm - Mad Men OR James Spader - Boston Legal
Thoughts - Not a surprising list it's a huge toss up between Hamm,Hall,Laurie and Spader. Count out Byrne but don't count out Cranston

Lead Actress: Drama
Glenn Close - Damages
Holly Hunter - Saving Grace
Kyra Sedgwick - The Closer
Mariska Hargitay - Law and Order SVU
Sally Field - Brothers and Sisters

Should Win - Kyra Sedgwick - The Closer
Will Win - Glenn Close - Damages
Thoughts - It's all the same people... I predicted Patricia Arquette and Minnie Driver but instead I got Mariska Hargitay (her episode submission in which she almost gets raped must have hit a chord with voters) and last years dissapointing winner Sally Field...

Lead Actor: Comedy Series:
Alec Baldwin - 30 Rock
Lee Pace - Pushing Daisies
Steve Carell - The Office
Charlie Sheen - Two and A Half Men
Tony Shalhoub - Monk

Should Win - Lee Pace - Pushing Daisies OR Steve Carell - The Office
Will Win - Steve Carell - The Office OR Alec Baldwin - 30 Rock
Thoughts - Maybe emmy is finally tired of giving statues to the same people this year. Really Glad that Lee Pace is on this list! Hope he pulls off a surprise win, Although I Would be fine with Alec Baldwin or Steve Carell taking the trophy.

Lead Actress: Comedy Series
Tina Fey - 30 Rock
America Ferrera - Ugly Betty
Mary-Louise Parker - Weeds
Julia Louis-Dreyfus - The New Adventures of Old Christine
Christina Applegate - Samantha Who?

Should win: Mary-Louise Parker - Weeds
Will Win: Tina Fey - 30 Rock
Thoughts: What a GREAT category! I would be fine with any one of these great actresses taking home the gold!

Supporting Actor: Drama
John Slattery - Mad Men
Zelijko Ivanek - Damages
William Shatner - Boston Legal
Ted Danson - Damages
Michael Emmerson - Lost

Should Win - Michael Emmerson - Lost OR John Slattery - Mad Men
Will Win - John Slattery - Mad Men
Thoughts - please PLEASE do not give William Shatner another emmy. I mean I went out on a limb and predicted that they won't....

Supporting Actress: Drama
Dianne Weist - In Treatment
Sandra Oh - Grey's Anatomy
Chandra Wilson - Grey's Anatomy
Candace Bergen - Boston Legal
Rachel Griffiths - Brothers and Sisters

Should Win - Sandra Oh - Grey's Anatomy
Will Win - It's between the Grey's girls and Candace Bergen. GO GREYS!
Thoughts - Where are the girls from Mad Men and Lost?

Supporting Actor: Comedy
Kevin Dillon - Entourage
Jeremy Piven - Entourage
Rainn Wilson - The Office
Neil Patrick Harris - How I Met Your Mother
Jon Cryer - Two and A Half Men

Should Win - Rain Wilson - The Office OR Neil Patrick Harris
Will Win - Piven,Harris or Wilson I'm leaning towards the two latter
Thoughts - STOP GIVING THE SAME PEOPLE AWARDS ALREADY EMMY'S JEEEZ! *cough Jeremy Piven, Tony Shalhoub, William Shatner, James Spader cough* Ok now I have that out of my system! Oh and where is John Krassinski(sp)?

Supporting Actress: Comedy
Kristin Chenoweth - Pushing Daisies
Vanessa Williams - Ugly Betty
Jean Smart - Samantha Who
Amy Poehler - Saturday Night Live
Holland Taylor - Two and a Half Men

Should Win - Kristin Chenoweth OR Amy Poehler
Will Win - Vannessa Williams But really it's a complete toss up
Thoughts - Such an open category. Amy Poehler is a nice surprise. She submitted the episode with Tina Fey and you know how much emmy LOVES Tina Fey! I Would replace Holland Taylor or Jean Smart wih Jenna Fischer who I am Kinda pissed about not getting nominated. Jean Smarts surprise nom means emmy like Samantha Who? Glad to see emmy branching out and giving shows like Pushing Daisies and Dexter some love this year! Good Luck to all and congrats to the nominees! Thanks for reading until Next time....

More Emmy top 10's

Ok seems just as I was Watching Mad Men the emmy top 10's have been released according to theenvelope So without further ado the remaining top 10 emmy top 10 with top 5 picks (maybe 6 just in case) I will wait to do best actor in a comedy series because not all of the names have been released. Sorry if these lists aren't accurate if they aren't I apologise and Will fix them immediately!

Elisabeth Moss - Mad Men
A wonderful surprise! She is a great actress and along with January Jones are the backbone of the show. Hope to see her in the top 5 but she has some tough veteran nominees to fight off.

Mary McDonnell - Battlestar Gallactica
I know BSG fans will be happy but i'm sorry I hate this show. It's just not my cup of tea.

*Kyra Sedgwick - The Closer
LOVE the Closer and she is great. But this isn't her year unforfunatley Glenn Close has her name all over that statue!

*Glenn Close - Damages
Apparently it's good VERY good I may have to see for myself.

*Minnie Driver - The Riches
Okay okay I also need to watch the Riches but from what i've heard/seen she is also very good.

*Patricia Arquette - Medium
I like Medium she is a very expressive actress but again the competition is there with Glenn Close

*Sally Field - Brothers and Sisters
Finally someone on the list who isn't involved with the law or business in some way Sally Field is loved and respected by every academy out there she got her dues last year it's Glenn Close's year.

Marsika Hargitay - Law and Order SVU
I dislike Law and Order no comment...

*Holly Hunter - Saving Grace
A great actress who deserves a nomination.

Jeanne Tripplehorn - Big Love
I though Chloe Sevigny was the better actress on the show but she is also excellent.

Lead Actor - Drama Top 10
Patrick Dempsey - Grey's Anatomy
He's popular that's why he's on the list but he won't ever get in top 5

Gabriel Byrne - In Treatment
Emmy seems to like In Treatment this year He has tough competition.

Kyle Chandler - Friday Night Lights
This makes up for the absence of Connie Britton on the list.

Bryan Cranston - Breaking Bad
Haven't seen the show can't comment

*Michael C. Hall - Dexter
Dexter is awesome. He should finally make top 5 this year

Jon Hamm - Mad Men
Great show with actors with top 10 spots in every drama category he should win if stupid emmy chooses the awful and predictable James Spader -gag-

*James Spader - Boston Legal
Gross! I hate this show only because it's so predictable Emmy likes it too much and could be giving awards to much more deserving people.

*Eddie Izzard - The Riches
I like him in everything he does I should check this show out.

*Hugh Laurie - House
Eh he's an ok choice

*Denis Leary -Rescue Me
My Safety. What an odd show though!?

Supporting Actor- Comedy top 10
*Rainn Wilson - The Office
Dwight Rules! 'Nuff said

*John Krasinski - The Office
Jim Rules! 'Nuff said

Justin Kirk - Weeds
I like him on the show but Romany Malco or Kevin Nealon would have been better choices

Kevin Dillon
*Jeremy Piven - Entourage
God this show is hilariously obnoctious

Tracey Morgan
Jack McBrayer - 30 Rock
Very funny charecters good choices

*Fred Williard - Back to you
I would rather see Patricia Heaton on the lead actress list Although he was funniest on the show. My Safety cause emmy likes sitcoms.

*Jon Cryer - Two and A Half Men
I could think of SO many people more deserving than this sitcom cheap jokester. Ha sorry cheap shot.

*Neil Patrick Harris - How I Met Your Mother
His scenes with Britney will get him in top 5 or even a win

Lead Actor Comedy top 10 next post

*Jenna Fischer - The Office
She is wonderfully dead pan she definatley deserves it.

He's a good actor but not one of the actors from Lost I would Have picked.

Chirstian Clemenson - Boston Legal

I like him on the show but who saw this coming?

*Jon Slattery - Mad Men
I picked up Mad Men today and I love it Jon Slattery should pick up the prize!

Zeljko Ivanek - Damages

*Ted Danson - Damages
Now this was the guy from Damages everyone expected.

Bruce Dern - Big Love
I haven't really seen more than half an episode of Big Love so I can't really comment.

*William Shatner - Boston Legal
An actor I hate on a show I hate yuck he will probably get the top 5 though (unfortunatley)

*Blair Underwood - In Treatment
Now from what I hear he is awesome, I really need to watch more of theese shows :P He will be my safety

*Michael Emerson - Lost
A good actor will probably be the one from Lost to get the top 5

Best Supporting Actress - Drama Top 11
Christina Hendricks - Mad Men
Everyone (including me) Thought January Jones would be the one here but Apparently the sultry red head got the top 11.

*Sandra Oh - Grey's Anatomy
She was the best actress on the show this season and last season but Izzie stole her spotlight and Dr. Bailey will get hers this year. I'm sure she will get it sometime.

S. Epatha Merkerson - Law and Order
I hate Law and Order...

*Chandra Wilson - Grey's Anatomy
She will get her dues this year (hopefully)

*Rose Byrne - Damages
So far Emmy is eating Damages up with a surprise top 11 finalist already. She and Chandra are neck in neck for this years prize.

*Candace Bergen - Boston Legal
As much as I like Candace Bergen I hate Boston Legal.

Jane Alexander - Tell me You Love Me
A show I never heard of until a couple of months ago.. Maybe I should add this to the list of must watch.

*Rachel Griffiths - Brothers and Sisters
She had a great season but there's tough competition

Diane Weist - In Treatment
Note to self - Must watch In Treatment

Sharon Gless - Burn Notice
Note To self - Must Watch Burn Notice

A pretty good show she is the best female on it. She is my Safety

No posts for a while now but anyways...
I have been watching some shows on DVD Dexter and Weeds and I absolutely love them! Highly reccomended
The emmy semi finalists were announced for Outstanding comedy and drama series here are the top 10 finalists
*=My predics for top 5 final nominations Don't laugh at me when i'm wrong!

Comedy Series
Curb Your Enthusiasm - I've seen it a few times and honestly, I do not care for it...

Entourage - Couldn't get into this one either

Family Guy - I really hope this show does not win let alone get into the final 5 I think I would die. The Simpsons or South Park are way more deserving, Not that I don't like the show.

Flight of the Conchords - I may have to rent this one on DVD

* The Office - Love this show GO JAM!

*Pushing Daisies - My favorite new show this year I really hope they get into top 5 and good luck to the actors everything about this show is wonderful!

*30 Rock - A funny show I don't mind it Really love Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin

*Two and a Half Men - I feel bad for laughing at this show's cheap jokes and horrible plot lines. Just another gawd awful sitcom

*Ugly Betty - A good show I enjoyed this season

*Weeds - AWESOME show but will it have the buzz to break through the network ratings juggernauts? We will see on July 17 But i'm gonna add this as a 6th option for my top 5 just in case.

Outstanding Drama Series
*Boston Legal - Ughhh how much I hate this show I REALLY hope James Spader and William Shatner do NOT win I will die

*Damages - It has alot going for it I could see this being top 5 material

*Dexter - I have not seen the second season but if it is anywhere near as good as season 1 than it deserves a spot. This will be my 6th choice in my top 5 just because I love it so much

Friday Night Lights - Again another one of those shows with a strong following but could be cut out by other buzz worthy ratings heavy shows

*Grey's Anatomy - Ok so it was on an upswing at the end of the season it is my guilty pleasure but does it deserve to be here?

*House - Meh I could care less if this was cancelled

Lost - Yay top 10! Lets hope it gets to the final 5

*Mad Men - Gonna rent this one on DVD to check it out but it's a safe bet.

The Tudors - Uhmmm didn't really care for this one either don't really know why it's here

The Wire - Never saw it but critics have been saying this should have been the winner for years and it just cracked the top 10? Weird.

Well there you have it We'll just have to wait 19 days to find out the final 5 and about 7 or 8 to find out the actors/actresses (my favorite categories) See ya then!

Emmy Predictions

It's almost that time of year. Shows are wrapping up so it's pretty easy to tell who is and who is not getting a nomination. Here are my predictions for who are going to be taking home emmy's this year.

Drama Series
1. House isn't my favorite show actually I really don't care for it and Hugh Laurie annoys me with his bashing of random things but everyone else seems to like him and the show has lot's of buzz

2. I have yet to see Mad Men but critics and precursors loved it a shoo-in.

3. Lost is getting very good. This is it's best season yet and acting is great. One of my personal favorites.

4. Grey's Anatomy is one of my favorite shows on television don't get me wrong. But this is the worst season yet. Messed up story lines random new characters and unlikable, unrelatable characters may hurt it's chances. But still a shoo-in.

5. Big Love is one of those great show's that I haven't seen yet but I hear good things about. An HBO show has been nominated in this category the past 8 years and with The Sopranos gone this could be Big Love's year.

Lead Actress in A Drama Series
1. Glenn Close - Damages
Such an obvious choice. The critics loved her and so did the precursor awards. She is a serious conteder

2. Kyra Segdwick - The Closer
My favorite Actress out of the bunch. She is really great in her role but her contenders are tough this year. But she is my favorite!

3. Sally Field - Brothers and Sisters
A really great show. She is loved by every Academy, organization and every critic. After her win last year she is likely to come back for a nomination.

4. Holly Hunter - Saving Grace
Here is another one of 4 shows this year that I didn't bother with. But the precursor awards gave her nominations so why wouldn't she get an emmy nod?

5. Mariska Hargitay - Law and Order SVU
The emmys really like to nominate their favorites especially when there are alot of new contenders. I really dislike Law and Order but they sure don't. But hey this could be the year they change it up!

Lead Actor in A Drama Series
1. John Hamm - Mad Men
He won the globe and got the nom for a sag. A serious contender

2. Hugh Laurie - House
House is not my favorite show and Hugh Laurie is not my favorite actor but with James Gandolfini Gone This could be House's year.

3. Michael C. Hall - Dexter
Wow he is so awesome in this show! He has been snubbed so many times he MUST get in. My personal fave of the bunch.

4. James Spader - Boston Legal
Ok long story short I screwed up on the pics and the pic on the left is Hugh Laurie but anyways an obvious shoo-in since he's won a bazillion times but I really hope he doesn't win again!
5. Bill Paxton - Big Love
I dunno just threw him in there :P

Supporting Actress in a Drama Series
1. Chanda Wilson - Grey's Anatomy
She's the best character on the show and she deserves to win. Period.

2. Rachel Griffiths - Brothers and Sisters
She was nominated last year and was really great this season her character went through alot. A well deserved nomination.

3. Katherine Heigl - Grey's Anatomy
Her character is a bit annoying but she did win last year and she is the it girl of Grey's.

4. Sandra Oh - Grey's Anatomy
Her situation is the same as Griffiths plus she's a fellow Canuck and she deserves it!

5. Elizabeth Mitchell - Lost
A really great actress. She should at least get a nod.

BSA noms and comedy categories to follow!

Most anticipated/Very early award predictions part deux

Best Director
1. Sam Mendes - Revolutionary Road
My most anticipated drama of the year Sam Mendes may win his second oscar this year.

2. Baz Luhrman - Australia
Sweeping landscapes are usually a shoo in for directing/cinematography nods plus he was snubbed for Moulin Rouge so this could be his make up nom.

3. David Fincher - Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Snubbed last year for Zodiac the academy may redeem him a well deserved nomination.

4. Clint Eastwood - Changeling
An obvious shoo-in.

5. Steven Spielberg - The Trial of Chicago 7
I don't know which is more famous. His cast or Mr. Speilberg himself. Another obvious shoo-in.

Also Possible
Woody Allen - Vicky Christina Barcelona
The Soloist - Joe Wright
Ridley Scott - Body of Lies
Gus Van Sant - Milk
Steven Soderbergh - Guerilla
Ron Howard - Frost/Nixon

Best Supporting Actress
1. Amy Adams OR Viola Davis - Doubt
She proved herself a good actress in Junebug and proved versatile in Enchanted. If she is well recieved with critics a nomination is very possible! BUT Apparently her performance is short so one of her co-stars could edge her out.

2. Kathy Bates - Reveloutionary Road
The last good thing she did was About Shmidt in 2002 (although she was the funniest part about Failure to Launch) If her performance isn't overshadowed by Kate and Leo's reunion she could score herself yet another nom.

3. Cate Blanchett OR Tilda Swinton - Benjamin Button
Tilda Swinton did win last year so the more likely nomination would go to Cate Blanchett who is apparently wonderful in this movie. Will Benjamin Button be last year's Michael Clayton and go over REALLY well with audiences and critics and be nominated for a bunch and only win one? Only time will tell!

4. Amy Ryan - Changeling
I loved Amy Ryan in Gone Baby Gone and this is a Clint Eastwood flic so one of his actresses have gotta be nominated! If Angelina's hissy fits and tabloid drama keep her off of the list of lead actresses it may be Amy Ryan's chance to shine again.

5. Sandra Oh - Blindness
Looks like a pretty good movie and the trailier looks good. I think she may pull this off and do a good job. Let's just hope it's not another Sideways disaster.

Also Possible
Renee Zellweger - Appaloosa
Her appearance with George Clooney in Leather Heads will keep her in voters minds until this comes out. She could come back with another great performance.
Catherine Keener - The Soloist

Best Supporting Actor
1. Josh Brolin - Milk
He left a mark and made lots of buzz last year for appearing in 2 great movies last year (American Gangster and No Country For Old Men) and was snubbed for both performances. If he is well accepted with critics than he can probably expect a nomination.

2. Phillip Seymour Hoffman - Doubt
He was in 3 awesome movies last year and even snuck in a supporting actor nomination for Charlie Wilson's War. Plus he's acting along side Meryl Streep. If the oscar queen Streep doesn't steel his spotlight he will probably get nominated.

3. Michael Sheen - Frost/Nixon
Michael Sheen did a notable performance as Tony Blair in The Queen along side Helen Mirren. In this political drama about the Watergate scandal he is definatley in the running.

4. Heath Ledger - The Dark Knight
I was REALLY sceptical that Heath could pull this off. He is usually so soft spoken especially in Brokeback Mountain (crappy movie btw!) But then I saw the trailer. Man did he give me chills! Will oscar pay tribute to him in the form of a nomination? If they keep promoting the movie like they are he very well may get a nom.

5. John Malkovich - Changeling
A Clint Eastwood movie and John Malkovich? Cool I guess i'll throw him in there.

Also Possible
Tom Wilkinson - Valkerie
Benjamin Bratt - Guerilla
Robert Downey Jr. - The Soloist
RDJr is back with more than 4 flicks to keep him on voters minds!

Technical stuff in next post! Let's see how much I embarass myself with predictions :P

Very Early Oscar Predictions 2009/ Most Anticipated

Best Picture:
1: Reveloutionary Road
Titanic co-stars (and coincidentally some of my favorite actor/actresses)
Leonardo Dicaprio, Kate Winslet and let's not forget Kathy Bates (she was in Titanic too ya know!) re-unite to tell the story of a couple struggling to well basically live life. It's getting alot of buzz and the fact that Sam Mendes is directing (he won oscar gold for American Beauty) and the star power of some great actors this movie is my most anticipated drama of the year.

2. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Brad Pitt plays a man aging backwards in David Fincher's latest. Oscar winner Tilda Swinton and fellow nominee Cate Blanchett could make Benjamin Button a really enjoyable film.

3. Doubt
A Priest (Phillip Seymour Hoffman) is accused of abusing a black boy. Let's see 2 great accomplished people (Meryl Streep too!) In a controversial story Need I say More?

4. Changeling
Clint Eastwood directing Angelina Jolie. 'Nuff said!

5. Austraila
One of my favorite Actresses (Nicole Kidman) and the very versatile Hugh Jackman star in a period drama directed by due for his time in the oscar spotlight Baz Luhrman (Moulin Rouge) should be good!

Best Actress
1. Kate Winslet-Revolutionary Road
Please,Please, PLEASE let Kate Winslet do a half decent job (which I have no doubt she will) so that the Academy can finally bestow her with that coveted golden statue.

2. Meryl Streep-Doubt
A very meaty role for her. She could have starred in Norbit and they would have nominated her.

3. Laura Linney-The Other Man
Laura Linney is I think the second most overdue actress in Hollywood. Her subtle performances and facial expressions put her above the rest but will Oscar think so too?

4. Angelina Jolie-Changeling
Judging solely by Clint Eastwood's track record of his actresses winning or being nominated and her tabloid prescence will be easy to keep her on oscar voter's minds. But when was the last time a tabloid queen got nominated for an oscar? Her on set hissy-fits could disfavour her to voters.

5. Julia Roberts-Fireflies In The Garden
Based on a Robert Frost poem Julia Roberts is usually a safe bet for at least a filler nomination.

6. Emily Blunt-The Young Victoria,Keira Knightley-The Duchess
Will oscar EVER grow tired of English Women playing queens? I think not!

Also possible
Nicole Kidman-Austrailia

Best Actor
1. Brad Pitt-The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button
Well the cast and crew of the movie seem to be impressed with him and he is proving himself to do diverse and meaty roles lately. Will Oscar like him as much as the public does?

2. Frank Langella-Frost/Nixon
The performance won a tony on broadway and Frank Langella is another over due actor and his snub for Starting Out In The Evening this could be his make-up nomination/win.

3. Benicio DelToro-Guerrilla
A great actor playing the legendary Che Gueverra? sounds AWESOME!

4. Sean Penn-Milk
A controversial role as a gay rights activist might bring some attention.

5. Leonardo DiCaprio-Revoloutionary Road
This year seems like alot of long overdue actor/actress/director/movie employees seem to be competing for their first nomination or win. Leo is poised to at least get a nom.

Also Possible
Hugh Jackman-Australia
Ralph Fiennes-The Reader
Will Smith-Seven Pounds

More Predictions on supporting categories directing and other most anticipated movies in next post!

Zomg Guess what? MORE movie reviews :D

There Will Be Blood-8/10- Ok so this is Daniel Day Lewis' movie and no one else's. Paul Dano is good but everything else in the movie just fails in comparrison to the malicious giant towering monster that is Daniel Plainview. The score was a little annoying at times but no doubt DDL Deserved his oscar.

Run Fatboy Run-8/10- An interestingly different romantic comedy. David Schwimmer does a great job at his first time directing and had some good laughs. GO SEE THIS NOW!

27 Dresses-6/10- Honestly Katherine Heigl? They try and make the 2 lead characters click with lots of cheesy dialogue and fast talking but it just fails and James Marsden and Katherine Heigl have no chemistry. It had some good laughs but it was way too predictable. Thanks for making me want to gag!

Horton Hears A Who-9/10- Awesome animated comedy and one of my favorites so far this year! Let's see funny Jim Carrey voice acting, Great looking characters from the world of Dr. Seuss and other star power such as Steve Carell, the guys from Knocked Up and Super Bad and Carol Burnett and you've got an animated comedy perfect for the whole family!

August Rush-7/10- If you like Music alot than you will like this film. If you like predictable feel-good movies than you will like this film. Not much else to say but I absolutely adore Kerri Russel and the songs are still in my head.

Coming up next.
My early predictions for oscar winners/most anticipated movies of the year!

Comedies

Semi Pro- 6.5/10
A typical Will Ferrel Movie It had it's moments but he needs to switch it up like he did in Stranger Than Fiction because he is getting a little old.

Balls Of Fury-7/10
Funny but needed a bit more. Christopher Walken is great in it though and it has some funny moments. The lead actor has some potential.

More movie reviews

Here's another slew of movies I saw this week.

Atonement-8/10
A sad, depressing movie. If you like sweeping romantic, tear-jerking dramas this is for you. I loved Saoirse Ronan's performance, my favorite part of the movie, although Keira Knightley and James Mcavoy were excellent aswell.

Sweeney Todd The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street-10/10
Honestly? Amazing. Johnny Depp's best performance to date. Helena Bonam Carter was robbed of an oscar nomination. Great songs, great performances. If you love Johnny Depp,Tim Burton,Musicals or the original play then you will LOVE this movie.

Good Luck Chuck-6.5/10
The ending was cute but it was a little raunchy. I giggled a few times. Dane Cook is ver funny but he hasn't made his funniest movie yet. If you like raunchy comedies you'll like this one.

The Invasion-7/10
Ending was abrupt and predictable. But the rest of the movie had me screaming at the screen. DRIVE,SHOOT HIM,TURN RIGHT etc.... Nicole Kidman is awesome as always. Good movie based on the invasion of the body snatchers.

I will make my top 10 list of 2007 after I see No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood so I can make a proper top 10 list.

This Week's Movie Review

Here are some reviews of movies I watched this week lets start with....

Gone Baby Gone- 10/10
ok let's just sum this up with a few things
Casey Affleck-wow
Amy Ryan-wow
ending-wow
Morgan Freeman-wow
Michelle Monaghan-wow
If I were given the choice to chose an academy award winner for best supporting actress it would have been given to Amy Ryan I literally stopped breathing. Excellent performance.

Michael Clayton-9/10
I thought I would like this alot more than I did.
It didn't hit me with anything I thought there would be more. Although Tilda Swinton, Tom Wilkinson, and George Clooney gave the best performances of their careers the standout was Tom Wilkinson for making crazy look sane.

American Gangster-8.5/10
Gets points for Ruby Dee's performance but loses points for not putting her on screen more. Denzel Washington was great as always but I came in this movie with high expectations and again was a little dissapointed.

Jumper-9/10
An exciting movie that went fast and with obvious signs of a sequel (because of the ending) This might be a good franchise. No good performances but it was very fun to watch and exciting.

That's a review of some new releases this week I reccomend them all!

Oscar Overview

It was a night for upsets and sweeps.
No Country for Old Men won 4 awards including Best Picture, Adapted Screenplay, Directors and supporting actor

Alot of people guessed it but I didn't see Marion Cotilard winning for La Vie En Rose and I counted out Tilda Swinton for Michael Clayton but now they can call themselves Academy award winners. Now I can't wait to see those movies!

I am very glad Diablo Cody won for her screenplay for Juno!
Shocks mostly came from technical categories with Bourne Ultimatum taking 3 and Golden Compass pulling an upset from the top 2 (out of 3) Favorites for special effects.

The Academy once again chose a very elaborate and period costume driven movie (Elisabeth the Golden Age) for that amazing suit of armor Cate Blanchett wore.

One time winners include Sweeney Todd for art direction, and original score for Atonement it's only award out of seven nominations.

Congrats to Oscar winners we hope to see more of you!

Here are my guesses for Oscar winners in technical categories

Original Screen Play Nominees
Juno
Michael Clayton
Ratatouille
The Savages
Lars and The Real girl

Should and will win: Diablo Cody's brilliant first script for Juno has been winning all the major awards and finally a nominee from Juno has lock on a caregory but some say men in the academy may go for Michael Clayton as well.

Adapted Screenplay Nominees:
No Country For Old Men
There Will Be Blood
The Diving Bell & The Butterfly
Away From Her
Atonement

Should Win: I am rooting for fellow Canadian Sarah Polley for her try as writer/director Sarah Polley but some say her script isn't as strong as other heavyweights in the category.

Will Win: This could be one of NCFOM sweep categories

Editing Nominees:
No Country For Old Men
The Bourne Ultimatum
The Diving Bell & The Butterfly
Into The Wild
There Will Be Blood

Should Win: Bourne was a very editing driven movie and I liked it alot

Will Win: *sigh* Another win for NCFOM

Art Direction Nominees:
Sweeney Todd
There Will Be Blood
The Golden Compass
Atonement
American Gangster

Should Win: Sweeney Todd was amazing

Will Win: Sweeney but There will be blood is a contender

Cinematography Nominees:
Assasination of Jesse James...
There Will Be Blood
The Diving Bell & The Butterfly
No Country for Old Men
Atonement

Should Win: Atonement
Will Win: A tie for me between Assasination and Atonement

Costume Deign Nominees:
Elizabeth: The Golden Age
Across the Universe
Sweeney Todd
La Vie en Rose
Atonement

Should Win: All I could think of through Elisabeth was what great costumes there were, but I loved Sweeney Todd's costumes more. But there has been lots of talk about Atonement's green dress

Will Win: Tie between Sweeney Todd and Atonement

Makeup nominees:
POTC: At worlds End
La Vie en Rose
Norbit

Should and Will Win: La Vie en Rose the aging process is cool. If Norbit wins I will scream although it was impressive (the makeup)

Visual Effects Nominees:
Transformers
Golden Compass
Pirates of The Carribean At Worlds End

Should and Will Win: Transformers although Golden Compass was cool

Original Score Nominees:
Atonement
Ratatouille
Michael Clayton
The Kite Runner
3:10 to Yuma

Should Win and Will Win: No freaking clue. Either Atonement or Ratatouille 3:10 to Yuma's score was also good.

Original Song Nominees:
Falling Slowly: Once
That's How You Know: Enchanted
Happy Working Song: Enchanted
So Close: Enchanted
Raise It Up: August Rush

Should and Will Win: Falling Slowly from Once is a great song but don't count out the legendary Menken from Disney for his songs from Enchanted.

Sound Editing Nominees:
The Bourne Ultimatum
No Country for Old Men
Ratatouille
There Will Be Blood
Transformers

Should Win: No Idea

Will Win: Um let's say Bourne?

Sound Mixing Nominees:
Transformers
The Bourne Ultimatum
3:10 to Yuma
No Country for Old Men
Ratatouille

Should Win: again no idea. Let's just go with Transformers (because people said it was loud :P) or one of my faves Ratatouille

Will Win: Transformers or Ratatouille

Thanks for reading happy watching on Sunday February 24 8 pm!
It's that time of year again and for my first post I will pick my favorites for the year.
Best Picture Nominees
No Country For Old Men
Juno
Micheal Clayton
There Will Be Blood
Atonement

Should Win: Solely on reviews and other prediction sites, I hear No Country is boring and the ending stunk. There Will Be Blood is too dark for the Academy and Michael Clayton is too conventional. Also Atonement had mixed reviews critics either loved it or hated it.I absolutely adored Juno and was my personal favorite of the year.

Will Win: All hints lead to No Country but I will still be routing for a Juno upset.
Best Actress in a Leading Role Nominees:
Julie Christie: Away From Her
Ellen Page: Juno
Laura Linney: The Savages
Cate Blanchett: Elisabeth The Golden Age
Marion Cotilard: La Vie En Rose

Should Win: Ellen Page made the whole movie theater want to laugh and cry at the same time. Not bad for a 20 year old. Cate Blanchett was good but a little boring and dull in her reprise roll of Queen Elisabeth the first. Julie Christie was also very good but she bored me and I thought her opposite Gordon Pinsent was better in Away From Her. Laura Linney was a surprise to be nominated but well deserved. Marion Cotilard is a few major critics choices but voters may not vote for her solely because the movie was subtitled.

Will Win: All hints again lead to Julie Christie (the academy likes old folks see last years winner Helen Mirren) But I will root for an Ellen Page upset in this category.
Best Actor in a Leading Role Nominees:
George Clooney: Michael Clayton
Daniel Day Lewis: There Will Be Blood
Viggo Mortensen: Eastern Promises
Johnny Depp: Sweeney Todd
Tommy Lee Jones: In the Valley of Elah

Should win: apparently DDL is bone chilling in TWBB and won all of the previous awards and many websites are calling for his win. But Johnny Depp could get a deserved award too.

Will win: Do I have to say it? Daniel Day Lewis has this locked up.

Best Director nominees:
Coen Brothers: No Country for Old Men
Tony Gilroy: Michael Clayton
Jason Reitman: Juno
Julian Schnabel: The Diving Bell and Butterfly
Paul Thomas Anderson: There Will Be Blood

Should and Will win: The Coen brothers are long due for their hugely critcally acclaimed NCFOM. But again I will pray for a Juno upset with Jason Reitman.

Best Supporting Actress Nominees
Ruby Dee: American Gangster
Tilda Swinton: Michael Clayton
Cate Blanchett: I'm Not There
Amy Ryan: Gone Baby Gone
Saoirse Ronan: Atonement

Should Win: It's a real horse race such an open category gonna say all should and can win.

Will win: Well let's see critics say Tilda Swinton gave a physically and emotionally great performance, Amy Ryan has been getting alot of buzz and Ruby Dee could get a win for her career background and Saoirse Ronan is a little young (14!) But it wouldn't be the first time an oscar has gone to a young person. I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and say Cate Blancett.

Best Supporting Actor Nominees:
Javier Bardem: No Country for Old Men
Phillip Seymour Hoffman: Charlie Wilson's War
Casey Affleck: The Assassination of Jesse James...
Tom Wilkinson: Michael Clayton
Hal Holbrook: Into the Wild

Should and Will win: Again Javier has the lock on this one but I wouldn't mind a Casey Affleck upset
